Best Coffee Shops on Lake Minnetonka

Coffee beans

The cities scattered around Lake Minnetonka are known for their local, small-town history. Whether you’re looking for a latte from a boutique coffee shop, or just a good remote work location, these are the most charming coffee shops on Lake Minnetonka.

The Lobby

234 Water Street, Excelsior

The Lobby in Excelsior

The Lobby is located in the heart of Excelsior, 2 blocks from the lake. It’s a very popular independent coffee shop, with lines regularly out the door.

They ship pastries in overnight from local bakeries, and serve up coffee, tea, and smoothies on-site. They also have a small speed oven for a small selection of breakfast sandwiches and flatbreads. They even serve wine in the afternoon and evening.

Although they don’t have a lake view, you can easily saddle up here and spend hours without overstaying your welcome. But come prepared to encounter a line or have difficulty finding a seat.

Vitalist Fresh

4016 Shoreline Drive, Spring Park

The Vitalist in Spring Park

Although not a proper coffee shop, the Vitalist serves up all the standards but with a large selection of smoothies and superfoods to go with it.

They have a small selection of outdoor seating, and best of all, a lake view overlooking Spring Park Bay.

This location isn’t best for extended stays, but it’s close to the water and great if you’re looking for some healthy food with your visit.

Grocer’s Table

326 Broadway Ave S, Wayzata

Grocer's Table in Wayzata

Located right in the heart of Wayzata’s waterfront, Grocer’s Table is a restaurant with a full service cafe station, a small selection of baked goods, and a full menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Another very popular spot, you may have difficulty finding seating or have to wait in a short line to place your order. On a slow day, you’re welcome to take all the time you need. Otherwise, it’s expected that you won’t park yourself there for the full day.

They are located one block up from the lake, and some of their outdoor seating has a lake view.

If none of the above coffee shops on Lake Minnetonka suit you, the following are also located around Lake Minnetonka but might be a few more blocks from the lake and without a lake view.

  • Dunn Brothers, Excelsior – A regional chain, but with a lake view when seated outside.
  • 318 Cafe, Excelsior – Local spot with great food, live music, but less seating.
  • Thirsty Whale Bakery, Wayzata – Coffee and donuts.

Or, see what Lake Minnetonka Libraries might better suit you!
